EYOF 2005: Ferrari wins All-around and floor exercice Gold

Italian Vanessa Ferrari wins the gold in the individual all-round competition and also a second title on floor exercises at the final day of the artistic gymnastics events in Lignano.

Yesterday, the second day of the gymnastics competitions of Lignano 2005 has been marked by the great accuracy of Vanessa Ferrari who has won the gold medal with 37.925 points, followed by Karina Myasnikova and Ksenia Afanasyeva from Russia. ...

Today, Ferrari’s performance does not need many comments: it has been neat and at top-level. After the first exercise, without much problems, she hesitated at the end of the balance beam exercise (9.625 points), in vault she has scored 9.250 points and 9.550 points in the uneven bars. During the floor exercise, she made a little mistake which cost her 0.100 points. In the end she scored 9.500 points. Macr? has been more unlucky. She has started with 8.950 points in vault, then 8.375 in the uneven bars and 8.100 in the balance beam from where, after a couple of hesitations, she has fallen at the end of the exercise. She has recovered in the last part, the floor exercises, scoring 9.175.

EYOF Team Competitions: Russia won Team Gold
Russian girls were the best team at the VIII. European Olympic Youth Festival which is held in Lignano, Italy.
With a score of 73,750 points the Russians beats Romanian team (72,475), the bronze medal went to host Italy (72,425).

It was a little surprise, that Germany came on fourth place (69,750), followed by France (69,150), the Ukraine and the Netherlands...
