For the 3rd time host of Euro Champs
|
The Swiss Gymnastics Federation STV announced that the 30th anniversary of men's European Championships will be celebrated in Switzerland in 2008.
After Bern (1975) and Lausanne (1990), (with a gold medal for Daniel Giubellini and a silver for René Pluess) Switzerland was chosen by the Executive Committee of the UEG for the third time to host Euro Champs, the host city being again the city of Lausanne, where already the 1997 World Championships took place ...
Through the introduction of a team contest as well as the integration of the juniors competition in 1994, European Championships became a large and important event. Last year almost 300 gymnasts from 35 nations were at the start in Ljubljana (Slovenia) .
In 2006, the European Men's European AG Championships will take place in Croatia, hosted by the city of in Zagreb; for the women's event however the UEG could not determine a host city.
The XXIX. European Championships in 2007 will be held in France. The city to host the event though has not been specified so far.
