Aerobic National Championships of Serbia and Montenegro
Bevore the National Aerobic Championships of Serbia and Montenegro held May 29 in Novi Sad, organized by Aerobics Association of Serbia and Montenegro:
It is another step forward for Aerobic Gymnastics in our country, with the number of competitors and quality of routines continuously in advancement. What we are satisfied with the most is that our enthusiasm and passion in developing the discipline is becoming recognized by gymnastics community abroad. This recognition is both an honor and a strong impulse that gives us strength in overcoming domestic problems ranging from finance issues to a recognition as a full grown gymnastics discipline.
After Austrian Open in Linz, for which we are preparing and will expectantly be present at, we will gain additional motivation to go on.
What concerns us, though, is that having successfully completed more than one could most optimistically expect, our presence at the European Championships remains uncertain with additional expenses coming with that. It could be an excessive overload to us financing almost everything out of our own pockets.
There is also the Aerobic Gymnastics Academy established by FIG Aerobics Working Group as a tremendous move toward a first-class educational foundation for everybody engaged in our discipline. Attending at the Level 1 in Eaubonne this August I see as one of the priorities for our Association and coaches who dedicate themselves to the work with our young athletes.
We are witnessing a very dynamic period for Aerobic Gymnastics on every level, as it may easily be seen. In the region representing the area of former Yugoslavia, the awareness of and subsequently interest and engagement in gymnastics is what future brings, and the important factor in the process is media coverage. I think Gymmedia will have the important role in the process, and with the Aerobic Gymnastics International Competition to be established soon in Vojvodina, it will become even more obvious. With the optimism constantly being with us in overcoming problems, however difficult they could be, we go on.
