Tracie bags five golds in Malaysian national junior meet

Gymnast Tracie Ang (pic) was the top performer, dominated the girls' artistic competition in the Malaysian National Junior Circuit Grand Finals, which ended in Cheras last week.

The 11-year-old Tracie made a clean sweep of all five gold medals at stake. Besides the individual all-around title, the Malacca gymnast also came out tops in the four apparatus finals – floor exercise, uneven bars, vault and balance beam. ...
Tracie, who won two gold medals in Sukma (Malaysia Games) this year, led her Malacca teammates Loh Hui Xia and Celine Goh to a clean sweep of the medals at stake in the individual all-around final.
Tracie amassed 65.654 points to finish ahead of Hui Xia (63.525) and Celine Goh (63.219).

In the boys' artistic gymnastics competition, Mohd Shahril Johari of Kedah was the star performer, winning five gold medals.
The 16-year-old Shahril took the individual all-around title with a total score of 98.633, beating Mohd Azlan Shah of Kuala Lumpur (94.033) and Kwan Yao Xuan of Selangor (90.917).
Shahril, the youngest member in the national team, won four of the six apparatus finals – floor exercise, rings, parallel bars and horizontal bar.
Shahril settled for silver in the vault and pommel horse events. Mohd Azlan took the vault gold medal and the pommel horse gold went to Yao Xuan.
