Australia's most decorated Olympic gymnast, Lisa Skinner, has had her circus career put on hold.
After helping her country make history at the Athens Games in August, Skinner retired to pursue a new life with the international Cirque de Soleil.
However, she was asked to take a minimum six months' compulsory training to become a professional acrobat. Skinner said she would move to the Cirque de Soleil's training centre in Montreal in March next year.
The 23-year-old Skinner is Australia's only gymnast to have contested three Olympic Games. ...
Lisa Skinner retired after placing eighth in the floor final at the Sydney Games, before making a comeback and helping Australia to an historic world championship bronze medal in 2003.
In Athens, Skinner was a member of the first Australian team to make the women's team final at an Olympics.
