CBC SPORTS ONLINE pronounced, that the former Canadian rhythmic gymnast and first Olympic champion of history (Los Angeles 1984) Lori FUNG were inducted into the athletes category of the Canada's Sports Hall of Fame during the induction gala in Toronto last week,
together with the Olympic gold-medal sprinter Donovan Bailey, Hockey Hall of Famer defenceman Larry Robinson, middle-distance runner and also the 71-year-old former NHL head Abby Hoffman....
Lori FUNG capped her brilliant career with the distinction of winning the first Gold Medal ever in rhythmic gymnastics at the 1984 Olympic Games.
Today, Lori is a world-class coach in rhythmic gymnastics at UBC with a reputation for excellence and extraordinary effort and enthusiasm. She acts as a role model for all young women and has the ability to instill in her students a desire to excel. This has been borne out by the national team members emerging from her classes.
