This meeting had a strategic importance:
The Executive Committee of FIG had to finish the analyses of all the Olympic issues and propose decisive and corrective actions to the Congress and its 124 members federations.
In his opening statement, President Grandi stressed the point that he wants to deeply reform the FIG:
He said that he wants 'to go all the way with competent men and women who have a great sense of integrity. The ones who made mistakes will be sanctioned. The FIG and the gymnasts cannot tolerate the injustice and bad reputation on our sport. The sport cannot exist without integrity and equity.'
