Berlin Masters: Olga Kapranova - the most successful Gymnast

The Russian Olga Kapranowa became the most successful gymnast with two victories (clubs and ribbon) at the Grand Prix 'Berlin Masters 2004'! Thus, this tournament taking place in the Max-Schmelinghalle resulted in a huge surprise.
First, the best of the all-around and the bronze medal winner of the Olympics in Athens Anna Bessonova (UKR) clearly dominated the hoop final, but then the Russian Vera Sesina took the gold in the ball final.

In total, 3 gold medals were won by Russian athletes (3/1/1), one by the representative of Ukraine (1/2/2).
Two further medals went to Belarus (1x silver; 1x bronze).
All together 10 gymnasts from six nations had advanced to the apparatus finals....

Friday, October 15 - Qualification

Ringinen won Mercedes Benz Cup
At the first day of this Grand Prix tournament 'Berlin Masters' the Finnish gymnast Maria Ringinen (64,925), won the 'Mercedes Benz Cup', the all-around qualification round, followed by Cynthia Valdez (Mexico / 60,525) and Anahi Sosa (Argentina / 60,225). So these three gymnasts are qualified for the Saturday's all-around decision.

After the injury of the German top star Lisa Ingildeeva the junior Alexandra Zapekina from Bremen got a special right from the Grand Prix committee for starting today...
