The former gymnast, coach and long-year international judge Walter Freivogel celebrated his 85th birthday today. He still sends out monthly newsletters to the circle of friends of the 1936 Olympic Games.
Hans-Jürgen Zacharias, Vice President of the German Gymnastics Federation, will celebrate his 70th in the city Kleve on Monday, Nov. 15th. Hans-Jügen Zacharias has been a member of the board of the FIG since 1984 and was its’ Vice- President until 2000. He was a major supporter at the foundation and during the first years of the agency GYMmedia.
Also the first German ECh’s medallist recently celebrated her 70th birthday…

Ingrid FÖST was the first German gymnast who won medals at European Championships. She won the bronze medals on vault and uneven bars at the 2nd European Championships 1959 in Cracow/ Poland.
At the 3rd European Championships 1961 in Leipzig she won the bronze medal in the all-around and took part in all four apparatus finals. In these finals she won the silver medal on vault, bronze medals on uneven bars and beam and reached the 5th place on floor.
Ingrid Lehmann-Föst took part in the Olympic Games in Rome (1960) and Tokyo and in the World Championships 1958 and 1962.
Altogether she became 20-time German Champion (GDR) – 4 times of these were all-around victories. She also took part in 24 other international meets and is one of the most of the successful gymnasts of the 60ies.
She worked as coach in Berlin with young gymnasts until some point during the 80ies.
Her 70th birthday was celebrated on November 9th in Berlin.
