First World Cup in Belgium!
At the kick-off press conference the organizers of the first World Cup Artistic Gymnastics in Belgium announced the countries that have already signed up. With provisional entries of over 25 countries amongst which the absolute top countries as Russia, Romania, USA, Brazil, Australia, Germany, China, Ukraine and Japan this World Cup will certainly be one of the biggest!

This World Cup competition is the last competition in the World Cup circuit 2003-2004!
After the last finals on Sunday evening November 6th, all participants to the World Cup Finals in Birmingham (11 & 12 December 2004) will be known! It will be a category A competition with a total amount of € 50.000 prize money; neatly divided over the 8 best gymnasts per apparatus!
The organizers expect the best apparatus specialists in Ghent amongst which the Olympic champs from Athens, the world champions from Anaheim and the European champions from Amsterdam!
Belgian star is of course Olympian Aagje Vanwalleghem who is already in Athens to defend her country. The Brazilian born gym talent can call herself the “ambassador” of the first world cup in Belgium!
Next to the top countries listed above, other participating countries include the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Canada, Poland, Croatia, Swiss, Slovakia, Puerto Rico, Belarus, Luxemburg, Slovenia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Czech Republic, Hungary, South Africa, Portugal, Great-Britain, Iceland and even India.
The competition will be held in the Flanders Sports Arena,
same location of the
2001 World’s.
Qualifications are on Friday November 5th, Finals on Saturday November 6th (WAG: vault, bars / MAG: floor, pommel horse, rings) and Sunday November 7th (WAG: beam, floor / MAG: vault, uneven bars, high bar).
