WCh in Sofia: Gold for Gregory Alcan and Mixed Pair from Bulgaria

The 8th World Championships in Sports Aerobics in Sofia had today its first surprising decision:
The France Gregory Alcan won a gold medail with highest score of the day (20,100 points) ahead of Remus Nicolai (ROU) and Sergei Konstantinov (RUS).
In 'Mixed Pairs' the new World Champs are the Bulgarian Galina Lazarova and Marian Kolev.
They won followed by Mixed Pairs Alba de las Heras with Jonatan Canada (Spain) and Daniela Izabela Lacatus with Remus Nicolai (Romania)....

With new tournament rules, (all desicions are done in one day - qualifications in the morning, finals in the evening), perfect organisation and an outstanding atmosphere the first day in 'Winter Palace of Sport' came to an end.

The 2003 European Champion Gregory Alcan (24) won his first World Individual title with an advantage of 0,550 points. Titleholder Jonatan Canada (ESP) wanted to save his energy for the Mixed Pairs final after the qualifications.

First the performance, second the long awaited world title - Bulgarian Galina Lazarova and Marian Kolev were celebrated for their last participation at a World Championship and the ending of their aerobic career. 'We can´t believe it!'
The Finals in Individual Men and Mixed Pairs were live on Bulgarian TV today.

Laszlo Köteles from Germany got 16,430 points and landed on ranking 21 of 38 athletes in Individual Men for a succesfull performance.
