French Team Nationals took place in Nantes last weekend. This competition awarded the best of French clubs.
The team from Marseille won the title of the first division with worlds vault finalist Coralie Chacon, french team member Magali Carosso, Mélanie Nunes, Marine Latour, Manon Guérin and Na?s Ciravolo (135.775 points). Toulon was second with Junior European floor finalist Julie Martinez and Betty Dupin (130.325).
Saint Etienne took the third place with worlds member Camille Schmutz, 2001 worlds member Nelly Soupe and Junior European member Sabrina Kachroud (130.175).
Créteil was one of the favorite teams, even if they were only 4 gymnasts (with a 6/5/4 format) but an unfortunate and impressive fall from Rose-Eliandre Bellemare, junior european beam finalist, on the first event, took the team out of the standings. Emilie Le Pennec and Gaëlle Richard were also on this team.
Veterans Marl?ne Péron, 2000 Junior European floor medalist and Anne-Sophie Endeler, a Sydney Olympics member, were competing for the host city of Nantes but they only managed to place 7th.
Second Division...
European floor finalist Marine Debauve and European bars finalist Soraya Chaouch won the second division with the team of Dijon.
This meet was also a test for the members of the national team, in which 1996 Worlds bars bronze medalist Isabelle Sévérino came back strongly with a total of 35.5.
Ramassamy injured... and she declared her Retirement Recent European member Nelly Ramassamy, which should have take part to this meet with Marseille, was not present in Nantes, as she has just tored her Achille tendon while training on the floor two weeks ago. She is definitly out of the Olympic Games and declared recently that she was giving up gymnastics after a long and a very successful career.
