Britsh Team Championships 2004
The City of Liverpool “A” team (Beth Tweddle, Carol Galashan, Melanie Roberts, Kim Lyon, Aisling Williams and Hannah Clowes coached by Sarah Attwell and Claire Duffy), won the British Team title for the third consecutive time at the Championships in Guildford on 3/4th April (137.650 points), ahead of South Durham (132.175) who celebrated their first Team Silver medal, and the last years runners-up from Heathrow “A” team in third (130.950)....
The British “prima” Beth Tweddle was, once again the key performer for her team, scoring the highest All-around result in the event, 36.050 points, and also winning the “Ursel Free” Trophy for highest apparatus result, 9.600 on A. Bars.
Vanessa Hobbs from Dynamo Southampton was the second best individual competitor in Guildford (35.300), followed by Lizzie Line (Pinewood), 34.575, whose young coach Natalie Ryan was Awarded the British Gymnastics Coaching Foundation special Award for creative achievements and her contribution to Pinewood’s success.
Fourteen teams with 79 gymnasts took part in the event, which also served as the third European Selection Trial for the Championships in Amsterdam at the end of April.
