PREVIEW: Pacific Alliance Championships 2004

At the same weekend like the European Championships in Ljubljana (Slovenia) the Pacific Alliance Championships 2004 will take place in April 15-17 in Honolulu.

The U.S. will send Jason Gatson, Paul Hamm and Steve McCain for the senior men’s cmpetition. The U.S. women’s team will be determined following April’s National Team Training Camp.

The Pacific Alliance Championships features the top men's and women's artistic and rhythmic gymnasts and trampolinists in the Pacific region. The meet is a preview of some of the top gymnasts in the country with many of the competitors 2004 Summer Olympic hopefuls. U.S. competitor Paul Hamm, who trains with Avery at the Steelwood Athletic Facility in Columbus, Ohio, and is the 2003 world all-around champion, is scheduled to participate in the event. The Pacific Alliance Championships will serve as a preview for the U.S. Gymnastics Championships, June 2-5 in Nashville, Tenn., and the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, June 24-27 in Anaheim, Calif.
The U.S. team claimed first place in the 2002 Pacific Alliance Championships, the last time the competition was held.
