azertag ---Stars of the world rhythmic gymnastics will gather in Baku to compete in the next round of the 2004 World Cup, in April 2004
Inna Zhukova and Svetlana Rudalova, Belarus, Almudena Sid and Jennifer Kolino, Spain, Elizabeth Paysiyeva, Bulgaria, Eleni Andriola, Greece, and Aliya Yusupova, Kazakhstan, Dinara Gimatova and Anna Gurbanova, Azerbaijan and others will vie for prizes in four exercises.
By now, 30 countries have presented their applications to participate in the competition About 60 gymnasts will compete for World cup medals. 30 referees including experts of the International Federation of Gymnastics will evaluate the athletes’ performances.
Olympic license holder Dinara Gimatova will lead Azerbaijan team consisting of five gymnasts: promising athlete Anna Gurbanova and prizewinners of the last Azerbaijan tournaments Vafa Huseynova, Dina Gorina and Valeriya Yegay.
To gear up for the World cup Azerbaijani gymnasts will participate in the international tournaments in Ulyanovsk and Riga.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, foreign ambassadors accredited in Baku, and representatives of sports circles are expected to attend the opening ceremony.
30 photographers and 150 local and foreign journalists will cover the tournament in Baku. President of Technical Committee for Artistic Gymnastics Eggle Ambruzzini, deputy secretary general Andre F. Gueisbuhler and TV-coordinator Jean-Francois Rousset are also going to arrive in Baku.
