British Gymnastics hosting World Forum in Coach Education

The fact reflects the high international recognition and respect that British Gymnastics have won internationally over the last few years.
Top level coaches from all over the world arrived at Lilleshall on Tuesday, 2nd December with ten British coaches getting ready to join the course, which will end with Assessment, Evaluation, and for the successful candidates - Brevet Accreditation on December 9th.
The FIG Vice President Slava Corn who chaired the consolidation meeting of the lecturers at Lilleshall on Tuesday, 2nd December, hopes for 'a very high quality course, which will contribute to raising the level of knowledge of some of the top coaches in the world, thus helping the further development of Gymnastics worldwide'.
Lecturing at the Academies will be recognised experts:
>> Leonid Arkaev (RUS), the most successful gymnastics coach ever, who, between 1973 and 2003, has helped producing 388 medals at Olympic Games and World and European Championships, and is now member of the FIG Executive;
>> Nelly Kim (BLR)- the 1976 and 1980 Olympic Champion on Floor and 1976 Olympic Champion on Vault, now a member of the FIG Women’s Technical Committee;
>> Hardy Fink (CAN) - Vice President of the FIG Men’s Technical Committee;
>>Mariana Bitang (ROM)- National Coach for the Romanian Women’s Team, 2000 Olympic and many times World Champions;
>> Dr John Salmela (CAN) one of the leading expert in Sports Psychology in the world;
>> Prof. Keith Russel from the Saskatchewan (CAN) University; recognised world expert on Coach Education;
>> Eduard Jarov (KAZ), current Canadian Men’s National Coach, who coached the first performer of the triple somersault, Valery Lukin, 1988 Olympic High Bar & Team champion;
>> Brian McVey - lecturer at the Seneca College, Toronto and top Women’s Gymnastics Coach.
The FIG Academies co-ordinator and the man who gave the first and most important contribution to the venture is Adrian Stan, former British Gymnastics Technical Director for Women, who brought the British Women’s’ Team into the first division of world gymnastics.
The importance of the event will also be highlighted by the presence of the FIG President Prof. Bruno Grandi, IOC member who will arrive for the conclusive part of the Academies, on 8th December.
