23rd Trampoline-WCh s: Final Day with the Olympic Disciplines

Gold for Henrik Stehlik (GER)

On the final day of the Trampoline World Championships the finals in the Olympic disciplines took place. Henrik Stehlik from Germany presented a faultless routine in the last final of this event and surprisingly won the gold medal in front of Olympic Champion Alexander Moskalenko (RUS) and David Martin (FRA).

Great ending of the Trampoline-WCh’s
Standing ovations from the audience for the gymnasts who presented great jumps and records of difficulty:
- Rusakow/Leven improved the World record of difficulty in the synchron event by 2 tenth to 15.8 points.
- A lot of cheers from the audience especiallyfor the German gymnasts who ended their most successful World Championships with 2 World Championships titles and 5 bronze medals.
- FIG- head of press Slava Corn (CAN) thanked the German Gymnastics Federation and the organisers from Hanover for a very well organised event which also presented the best conditions for the press.
- At the end the president of the German Gymnastics Federation Rainer Brechtken handed over the FIG-flag to the organising city of the World Championships in 2005, Eindhoven in the Netherlands.

Yesterday:Synchron final women

Saturday: Decisions of teams tumbling and Double Mini-tramp as well as Synchronizing competitions
Two times gold for Belarus in the two synchron competitions of today.
It also has been the “bronze day” for the German team which reached the third place in the women's synchron final as well as with both of their double- minitramp teams.

Friday: Trampoline Team decisions
Only after the last very routine of the men's team final presented by Olympic Champion Alexander Moskalenko the decision the has been taken: The audience cheerfully celebrated the gold medal of the German team which narrowly won the event being 0.1 points ahead of Russia. The team from Ukraine managed to win the bronze medal.
In the women’s team final the Russians then won the gold medal in front of China and Canada.

Thursday: Opening 'World Champions - The Show'
The 450 athletes from more than 40 countries were welcomed with an impressive Opening on Thursday evening (October, 16th).
With “World Champions – The Show“ a speedy and pleasant program was presented. The performers were former artistic gymnastics World Champions Andreas Aguilar and Ralf Büchner (Hanover), former trick biking World Champion Jens Schmitt, former aerobics World Champions Mireila and Andrej Nezezon, current German wheel World Champion Janin Oer, artist Nils Weberling, “The Kourbanovs” - a group of motorbike- artists from the Circus Flic Flac and the show group of the local gymnastics federation from Hanover.

Olympic Qualification
It will then “start to get serious“ on Friday, October 17th with the qualification for the Olympic Games in Athens.
“Only” the 16 best individual gymnasts each in the men’s and women’s competitions will qualify for the Olympic Games. All nations which manage to have 2 gymnasts in the finals of the best 8 gymnasts will have the opportunity to send 2 gymnasts to Athens.
