Chechi: Former world star on rings

Yuri Chechi has now a different view on high level gymnastics.
'Here in Anaheim, we have seen very many exercises of a high value. Even though, the FIG Technical Committee would be well inspired to review its code of points. Something must be done.
There are too many faults, the gymnasts have difficulties in mastering the new required difficulties. I do prefer gymnastics perhaps somewhat less difficult, but spectacular, and in particular with less faults. There were some very serious injuries (ligaments, Achilles' tendon). I have noted that gymnastics progresses in many countries. The difference of the level between European countries and other continents is no longer as important; this fact incites to - wrongly - believe that Europe is losing momentum.'
