Deduction Costs China Bronze Medal!
Team loses 0.2 points over back handspring, tuck jumps
A .2 deduction incurred by the Chinese team at Wedneday night's team final cost China the bronze medal. Fan, Ye performed a back handspring on the podium and jumps while waiting to begin her beam routine.
Under this new format, the gymnasts are not allowed to warm up on the podium prior to competition. The rules state that a gymnast may only stretch, but may not flip, while waiting for the green light to begin the routine.
The deduction was enough to leave China in fourth place, .076 behind Australia. (source: IG, Amanda Turner)
