Once more, the training centre in Tirrenia proved to be an excellent choice for this event, especially as the situation next to the sea and the infrastructure (two training halls, appropriate accommodation and well balanced meals) are concerned.
The invited expert coaches Gheorghe Condovici (GER), Joszef Lukacs (HUN), Zsuzsa Kalmar (HUN), the choreographer Larissa Efremova (RUS) as well as the representatives of the WTC/UEG, Orna Shai and Donatella Sacchi worked very professionally, in a positive and friendly atmosphere and shared their knowledge with the highly motivated participants.
Training sessions (generally two per day) included physical preparation, flexibility, choreography and training at the apparatus. For reasons of organisation and efficiency the gymnasts were divided into two groups and worked hard under the guidance of the expert coaches in cooperation with the coaches of the federations. Besides the practical sessions in the training hall, lectures on the code of points and methodology of basic elements were held regularly. Furthermore, the UEG had invited Adrian Stan (GBR) in charge of the FIG age groups programs, whose explanations on that program were extremely interesting and highly appreciated by the coaches.
Despite the hard work some free time was left and the participants enjoyed the beach and their trips to Florence and Pisa.
The WTC/UEG is very satisfied with this year's training camp. All participants appreciated the high quality of the training camp and agreed that it was a very positive end rich experience. The WTC/UEG is aware that these young gymnasts are the future of European Gymnastics and that it is important to offer both the coaches and the gymnasts the best possible training and education.
