After seven tests among the 21 national team athletes, the Chinese Gymnastics Association (CGA) finally selected seven men and seven women to take part in the high-profile international event, the World Champs in Anaheim.
On August 2, the team began training at South Coast Gymnastics.
Led by four Olympic champions - Li Xiaopeng, Yang Wei, Huang Xu and Xing Aowei - the Chinese men's side boasts the strongest line-up in the men's team competition. Besides, young guns and Asian champions Teng Haibin, Liang Fuliang and Xiao Qin, the pommel horse runner-up in the last two Worlds, are also the medal contenders in the horizontal bar and pommel horse....

The 2001 world men's individual all-around champion Feng Jing could not attend the match.
The women's side is rather young and less experienced.
Only Zhang Nan, the runner-up at the 2002 World Cup Grand Finals, and the Asian balance beam champion Kang Xin, both aged 17, have international match experience. The other five teenage members - Li Ya, Fan Ye, Zhang Yufei, Lin Li and Zhang Tiantian - are all newcomers to international gymnastics.
However, the final six-member squad to compete in the men's and women's team event will be decided 24 hours before the match according to the players' performance in the 10-day training session in the United States.
On August 2, the team began training at South Coast Gymnastics, which is owned by 1981 world pommel horse champion Li Xiaoping.
