St. A. Kolakowskich Memorial

Leszek Blanik (POL)

Olympic medallist Leszek Blanik has won the first men’s all-around at the “St.A.Kolakowskich Memorial“ which took place on May 30th/ June 1st.
On ranks 2 and 3 followed the two Russian competitors from St. Petersburg Anton Lobanov and Nikolai Goukov.
Their young club mate Alexandra Vanina (yr. 89) narrowly won the women’s all-around, which had already been held as international tournament in previous years.

Joanna Skowronska (POL)

Poland’s experienced Olympic participant Joanna Skowronska managed to secure herself the 2nd place. The second gymnast in this field from St. Petersburg Inna Vinogradova ended up on rank 3.

With a large amount of particpants, 16 teams in the women’s and 6 in the men’s field, the competition took place in the newly renovated gym of the organising club MKS KUSY Sczcecin. Although several falls and insecurities could be seen during the competition nonetheless also tremendous difficulties were presented.

Russia’s Inna Vinogradova managed to stick a double layout followed by a piked full-in during warm-up on floor. During the competition, however, she then changed the double layout to “only” a double piked.
The gymnasts of the Polish national team used the opportunity to compete in a full all-around at this point of time 10 weeks before the World Championships. Therefore Leszek Blanik, Joanna Skowronska and their team mates risked a lot and also tested new skills during this competition.

As in the women’s seniors field also the juniors’ title went to Russia. Ekaterina Kramarenko secured herself the victory especially with a beautiful uneven bars routine for which she received the score of 9.175.
Germany’s Jasmin Weber reached the 2nd place. She presented a difficult beam routine which the judges honoured with the SV of 10.000 (final score 8.900).
The gymnasts from Alma Ata/ Kazachstan pleased everyone with their elegant routines as well in the women’s as also in the men’s field. This was honoured with the victory of Roman Kashkuli in the men’s junior all-around. Marcin Szczepanski and Piotr Jarzabek from Gdansk presented a good competition and through this secured silver and bronze for the host federation,
