European Team Championships in Moscow

After the premiere in Riesa 2000 the European Gymnastics Union organizes the 2nd European Team Championships this weekend in Moscow.
More than twelve OLympic and world champions are among the favourite teams. So the former Ukrainian star Victoria Karpenko celebrates a comeback - in the team of her new homeland Bulgaria.

Olympic Complex of 1980

The eight best European countries (AUT - BLR - BUL - GBR - HUN - ITA - RUS - UKR) will participate in this competition in artistic (men's and women's) and rhythmic gymnastics.
Nearly twelve Olympic and world champions will be present in the favourite teams, like:
- Host and titleholder Russia: Alexei Nemov, Alexei Bondarenko, Svetlana Khorkina and Anna Pavlova and the rhythmic gymnasts Alina Kabaeva and Irina Tchachina; - Ukraine: Roman Zozoulya, Alexander Beresh, Aljona Kvasha, Irina Yaritska; Anna Bessonova and Tamara Natalia Godunko
- Belorussia: Dmitri Kasperovich, Dzinis Savenkov RG: Lubo Charkachina, Inna Zhukova
- Bulgaria: Jordan Jovtchev, Filip Yanev; Victoria Karpenko (former Ukrainian star) and Nikolina Tankusheva and the RG stars Simona Peycheva and Zornitsa Marinova

UEG info --- The European Youth Olympic Festival 2003 EYOF (summer sports) will be held in Paris from July 27th to August 1st 2003. The drawing of lots of the starting orders of the teams and mixed groups was carried out on March 28th 2003 in Paris. It has to be noted that the organising committee might make some changes if countries are absent in order to ensure a good running of the competition.
