14TH CONSECUTIVE INTERNATIONAL AEROBICS CHAMPIONSHIPS

The International Aerobic Federation (IAF) is the host of the SUZUKI WORLD CUP 2003, 14TH INTERNATIONAL AEROBIC CHAMPIONSHIP, at the Tokyo Gymnasium in Sendagaya, Tokyo, Japan, on Saturday and Sunday April 19th and 20th, 2003.
To the first time this event is also recognized by the F.I.G..
WORLD CUP 2003 will be conducted under the supervision of the Japan Aerobic Federation (JAF) and is sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology of Japan, the Japan Amateur Sports Association, Suzuki Motor Corporation, and NHK Joho Network.
The IAF would also like to thank Nichido Fire & Marine Insurance Co., Ltd., Hitachi, Ltd., and Weather Corporation for their support of WORLD CUP 2003. The event will be held at the Tokyo Gymnasium in Sendagaya, Tokyo.
Over 3,500 spectators are expected to attend the exciting two-day event.
The event will present elite athletes from over 17 participating nations, with competitors in each of the six sportaerobics categories, which include Individual Men, Individual Women, Mixed Pairs (one athlete of each gender), Trios (three athletes of the same or mixed genders), Junior Varsity co-ed Individual and Junior Varsity Trio age, 11 to 13; and Varsity co-ed Individual and Varsity Trio, age 14 to 17.
Some of the countries expected to compete this year include Argentina, Australia, Austria,, Brazil, Bulgaria, France, Hungary, Iceland, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Peru, South Africa, and Spain. Female Individual Champion 2002, Marcella Lopez of Brazil, and Male Individual Champion, Kuan Su Park of Korea, will be returning to this year's 2003 Suzuki World Cup to proudly defend their titles.
The championship is one of the world’s premier international sportaerobics event featuring the very best athletes both youth and adult, from all over the world. The competitve routines were judged according to the standards set forth in the CommonRules, which includes Artistic Merit, Technical Merit, and Difficulty. Teamwork and synchronization of movement were also be evaluated in the Mixed Pair and Trio categories.
