WORLDCUP Cottbus 2007: Men s apparatus Finals

FINAL FLOOR
The men kicked off the first finals’ day in Cottbus on floor with gymnasts from 8 different countries – Italy, Brazil, Ukraine, Romaina, Greece, Luxemburg, Germany and France. It is obvious that the variety of countries which manage to bring gymnasts to the top level gets bigger and bigger.
Pozzo:  --- routine with a well-executed full-in at the beginning, in the middle a combination of 1 1/2 twist bwd. - layout fwd. 1/1 turn - layout fwd. 1 1/2 turn,  he also showed Thomas- circles with Gogoladze.
Rosa:  --- two combined series one of them 2 1/2 twist bwd. and somersault fwd. with 1/2 turn, the other one 1 1/2 twists bwd. - layout fwd. 1/1 turn, piked arabian and in the end a full-in to a stuck landing.
Kuvakin: --- started with the difficult 2 1/2 twists bwd. followed by layout fwd. with 2/1 turns, Russian wendeswing 1080 degrees, in the end triple twist and a stuck landing - he took the lead!
Selariu: --- he started with a double-double bwd. and ended his routine with a full-in, both jumps with slight corrections on the landing, 2 1/2 twists bwd. layout fwd., followed by 1 1/2 twists bwd. - somersault fwd. 1/1 turn and  1 1/2 somersault to roll fwd.. However, his whole routine included a few small insecurities.
Kosmidis: --- two combined series, one of them with 1 1/2 twists bwd. - layout fwd. 1/1 and layout fwd. 1 1/2 twists, the second one with 2 1/2 twists bwd. followed by somersault fwd. 1/2 turn, in the end a full-in. Also he with slight insecurities on the landings.
Palgen: --- he started with a piked double arabian and ended his routine with a tucked double arabian, in the middle he presented standard acrobatic elements and also he had a few problems to stick his landings.
Fahrig: --- started his routine with a very high piked double arabian and presented overall a very high difficulty, including Thomas- circles followed by a tucked double arabian, unfortunately with an insecure landing, in the end he showed 2 1/2 twists. 
da Silva: -- one of the most difficult routines of this final but unfortunately with a fall on his triple twist in the end - through this he lost all chances on a leading position...

Berki: ---The European Champion 2006 presented a very elegant routine including flop Russian wendeswing 360 degrees, scissors with 1/2 turn through handstand followed by Russian wendeswing 1090 degrees. - A great routine with which he managed to overtake Teng Haibin!
Popescu: ---A few technical insecurities today, so he didn't manage to reach one of the top positions in this final.

Carmona:
Last week at the World Cup in Paris he reached the 2nd place on this apparatus. Today he started with swallow to inverted cross, uprise to support scale to cross, the highlight of his routine: kip to inverted cross! Also the full-in dismount went well today and he won this final!
It was remarkable to see in this final that so many gymnasts tried a fwd.- dismount.

L. Rivera (PUR).- his HS - layout fwd. 2/1 twists was the first vault, very high and with an almost stuck landing. Unfortunately he then fell on the layout Kasamatsu 2/1 twists.
- Layout Kasamatsu 3/2 twists (with a large step to secure the landing) and HS - layout f wd. 2/1 twists (landed very deep) were the two vaults of  Y. Hayami (JAP).
- Jeffrey Wammes (NED), after having overcome an injury now back in competitions,  showed a sky-high Yurchenko 3/2 twists with slight insecurities on the landing and HS - layout fwd. 2/1 twists, again with slight insecurities on the landing. But with 16.037 he took the lead.
- V. Kuvakin (UKR) – HS - double somersault fwd., very high,  and an also quite good Kasamatsu 3/2 twists.
- T.Bouhail (FRA) managed to repeat his performance from the qualification. His Tsukahara double somersault bwd. piked was definitely a highlight of this final! Unfortunately he then had to secure the landing of the second vault Roche 1/2 turn briefly with his hands on the mat. Nonetheless it was enough for the silver medal!
- Kasamatsu 2/1 twists was the first vault by A. Yakubovskyi (UKR). He then opened up his HS -double somersault fwd. far too early  and fell on the landing.
- The first vault by  Du Wei (CHN) "only" had a SV of 6.2 but was very well executed and with the then following Tsukahara double somersault bwd. piked to a stuck the landing he secured himself the gold medal in this final!

FINAL PARALLEL BARS
Favourites for top positions in this final are the two Chinese gymnasts Teng, H. and Feng, Z. as well as G. Da Silva (FRA) and V. Goundcharov (UKR). 
- Da Silva (FRA) was the first competitor in this final. He had quite some insecurities in the handstands. The content of his routine however was quite remarkable.
- V. Goncharov (UKR) set the marks high then with the second routine in this final. With a stuck landing of his dismount after having presented before Belle tucked and piked, shoot-up 1/2 turn and shoot-up to handstand as well as Healy directly to 1 1/2 somersault fwd. landed on the upper arms he received the score of 15.725.
- A routine full of variety was presented by R. Kulesza (POL).  His routine included shoot-up - handstand, tucked Belle, Tippelt - somersault fwd., Tippelt, Healy and double somersault bwd piked.
- Teng, H. showed many flight elements with tucked Belle,  piked Belle, 1 1/2 somersault landed on the upper arms. A technically very well presented routine which brought him the lead!
- Shoot-up to handstand, shoot-up 1/2, giant 1/1 turn, Diamidov 1/2 turn, stuetzkehr on one bar, double somersault bwd. on the upper arms and a double somersault  bwd. piked dismount were among the highlights of  N. Kruykov's (RUS) routine!
- The second Chinese competitor in this final Feng, Zhe showed a similar level of difficulty like his team mate. He, too, presented 4 flight elements. However, he had to secure the landing of his dismount with a small step.
- N. Böschenstein (SUI) fighted through his routine but showed a few technical insecurities compared to the top-ranked gymnasts in this final.
- M. Nguyen (GER) from the host team Germany was the last gymnast in this final. He presented his routine dynamically, including shoot-up 1/1 turn, shoot-up to handstand, giant, tucked Belle, Healy landed on the upper arms and an almost stuck full-in dismount.

FINAL HIGH BAR
- With V. Maras (GRE) one of the favourites of this final started right away as first competitor. He showed a technically very clean routine including Pegan, straddled Stalder in L-grip, Rybalko and a stuck double-double dismount.
- The only 17-year-old Y. Tanaka (JAP) also showed a good routine with Kovacs 1/1 twist and Kovacs.
- Eagle swing ½ turn directly followed by Deff,  this was the highlight in the routine of A. Rodriguez (PUR)! His second flight element was a Markelov, which overall seems to be quite popular at the moment. Furthermore he showed a straddled Stalder in L-grip which is only rarely being seen nowadys. He ended his routine with a stuck double-double dismount.
- C. Schärer (SUI) also showed a Markelov and  a very nice layout Jaeger. However, he had some technical insecurities in the rest of his routine and also problems on the dismount layout full-in.
-  After his 3rd place on floor E. Pozzo (ITA) also managed to convince with a good performance on high-bar. Especially remarkable was the eagle swing 1/1 turn directly followed by Markelov.
- For M. Samiloglu (TUR) it certainly already was a success to have reached this final. Also he presented eagle swing 1/2 turn followed by Markelov and in addition to that Kovacs and Kovacs 1/1 twist. However, technical insecurities led to deductions by the judges.
- The only 17-years old M. Kuksenkov (UKR) with a fall during his routine and then again also on his double-double dismount...
- Also the last gymnast,  A. Tsarevich (BLR), didn't have a chance on one of the front ranks in this final after a mistake on his Kovacs and a few more insecurities. However, he showed a very nice triple somersault dismount!
