From August 24 to 26, the 9th SLOVENIAN RHYTHMIC CHALLENGE 2007 took place as a World Cup event of FIG.
Traditional host was the Rhythmic Gymnastics Club Siska in Ljubljana, the Slovenian capital.
The Russian world champion Olga KAPRANOVA won the all-around competition in front of her teammates Vera SESSINA and Eugenia KANAEVA.
The Ukrainian Anna BESSONOVA - best of the Universiade in Bangkok one week before - came only in fourth place ...
Altogether 47 gymnasts of the elite category represented 30 countries, but on the fringe of the world cup event competitions for junior gymnasts, coming from 14 different countries, were also held.
The tradition of this event
goes back to the 1st Slovenian Challenge, organized in 1999 in Postojna.
The tournament comprised a group and an individual competition.
At the first event, the gymnasts came from 9 countries; winner in 1999 was the Russian European Champion Alina Kabaeva in front of the World Champion Elena Vitrichenko (UKR) and Laura Zacchili (ITA).
