Trampolinist Kirsten Lawton - selected as Olympian!
The British Olympic Association (BOA) is today delighted to announce Kirsten Lawton as a selected athlete for Team GB Athens 2004!
Kirsten achieved selection for the Athens Olympic Games by finishing in equal 6th place in the Qualification round of the Trampolining World Championships in Hanover, Germany on 17 October 2003....
Simon Clegg, the British Chef de Mission for Team GB Athens 2004 and the Chief Executive of the British Olympic Association said: 'I am delighted to welcome Kirsten Lawton into the Team for Athens 2004. Kirsten has shown that she is in the top echelon of global competitors in this exciting sport and we wish her well with her ongoing Athens preparations.'
Matthew Greenwood, British Gymnastics Performance Director and Team Leader, said: 'British Gymnastics is in the enviable position of having two of the top ten female trampolinists in the world. Following Kirsten's fine performance at the World Championships last year in Hanover, she put herself in A1 position when it came to the second trial at Lilleshall on 1 February. At that trial, she secured her place at the Olympic Games in Athens. She now has just over six months of final preparation and I am sure that given the best support that she will be highly competitive in Athens.'
