After the artistic and trampoline events at the "2012 Pre-Olympics" in London took place the second chance to qualify for the Olympic Games also for the rhythmic gymnasts. Individual gymnasts performed four routines – hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon. Behind the winner Daria KONDAKOVA (RUS) the next five gymnasts are qualified for the London Olympics next summer, also the best four groups in all-around. Wednesday, Jan 18 the gymnastics events finished with the rhythmic all-around finals and the winner Daria Kondakova (RUS) and the victory of Spanish group ... ...

The test event will reward five Individuals (nominative) and four Groups (NOCs) with Olympic berths, joining the 15 Individuals and six Groups who qualified at the 2011 Worlds in Montpellier (FRA).
Qualifications will be held on January 16 and 17 with the Finals scheduled for the 18th.
The best ten Individuals as well as all eight participating Groups will proceed to the Finals at this event.

The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) confirmed the Rhythmic qualifiers for the 2012 London Olympic Games following the second and final qualification event on Tuesday. Twenty-four places were available for Individuals and 12 for groups of six, with gymnasts having two opportunities to qualify their NOCs - at the 2011 World Championships in Montpellier (FRA) and the Visa International Gymnastics this month in London (GBR).
Places for five Individuals who have qualified in London, namely
- Anna Alyabyeva (KAZ),
- Ganna Rizatdinova (UKR),
- Carolina Rodriguez (ESP),
- Chrystalleni Trikomiti (CYP) and
- Jana Berezko-Marggrander (GER) are nominative.
One spot is reserved for the host country, Great Britain, and three places are set aside for continental balance and universality.
These places will be nominated in due course by the FIG Executive Committee and the Tripartite Commission respectively.
In the Groups category, with a total of 12 available places,
- Italy, Russia, Bulgaria, Belarus, Japan, and Germany had secured Olympic berth at the 2011 World Championships, while
Spain, Ukraine, Israel,and Greece qualified in London.
Great Britain is guarantedd the host country place and one spot, which will be allocated in due course by the Executive Committee, is reserved for continental balance.

British RG group fails to qualify for Olympics

Britain has fallen short of the required qualifying score and will not be able to compete in the rhythmic gymnastics group event at this summer's London Olympics.
Britain's rhythmic group needed to score 45.223 at the test event at the O2 Arena, which also served as a second Olympic qualifier. But the team fell .273 short Tuesday, finishing with a score of 44.950.
Britain appealed, but it was rejected by the International Gymnastics Federation.
May be the Swiss group can start as the fifth qualified group after a FIG decision at the end of February.
Britain also will send full teams in both men's and women's artistic gymnastics, a first since the boycotted games in 1984.
