After the womens win on Saturday Hungary mens gymnasts have gone up another level today:
The Hungarian National team won the „1st Austrian Team Open Artistic Gymnastics“ in Vienna-Brigittenau with a clear advantage ahead of Upper Austria (248.850 to 242.650) and the Hungarian Junior-National team (241.750).
The Team Upper Austria therewith defended its national team-state title ahead of Vorarlberg (238.400) and Vienna (226.750).
Only after them, did Slowakia and Slowenia follow...

The large audience in the Brigittenauer Sports Hall experienced high class gymnastics three weeks before the European Championships:
The Austrian squad and all international teams used the Austrian-Open-Premiere as a qualification for the season highlight in Birmingham. One experienced various world class achievements, above all Marco Baldauf with his new high bar choreography ( with 3 10ths more degree of difficulty of 6.4 for the entire World Cup 8th of the last year): „The exercise wasn't at its optimum today, the grade of the international jury still had a high 15.250 points. That makes me very positive“.
The 30 year old Dornbirner routinier reflects: „As a team we had too many mistakes today to win“.
The team-state title went - like in the last year to Upper Austrias gymnasts. With Fabian Leimlehner, Lukas Kranzmüller, Marco Mayr and Severin Kranzlmüller „the mission was completed and Gold defended“ (Leimlehner).

In the international singles ranking the all around state champion Fabian Leimlehner awoke great hopes for a very strong year;
despite a fall with the Kovacs-double salto-flight element in the high bar exercise he got a high 83.950 points, won ahead of three Hungarians. State supervisor Dieter Egermann concluded a very successful event, which will enrich the international competition calendar: „Great achievements, hard fights for the rankings, honorable winners ;.
ÖFT-Top-sports Director Wolfgang Neumayer: &bdquo: We have christened a competition format of the future!"
