Catalina Ponor wants to participate at the Europeans....

Ponor in Amsterdam again...?

After the European Championships in Volos(GRE) in 2005, Catalina Ponor wanted to give time to more than just gymnastics. The Rumanian gymnastics celebrity decided to end her imposing career:
But less than a year later the ‘gymnastics itch’ led her to rethink her decision. Triple Olympic champion Catalina Ponor has resumed training and hopes to be present again at the European Championships in Amsterdam....

Ponor aims for the European Championships in Amsterdam 2007, but is also carefully looking ahead to the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008.
At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens Ponor won three gold medals. With her team she won the team final, and individually she was strongest on balance beam and floor.

In the same year she was also present in Amsterdam when Holland hosted the European Championships 2004  for women gymnasts. She took three gold medals: team, beam and floor. Her excellent memories of Amsterdam and the enthusiastic Dutch audience will stimulate her comeback.

The official Drawing of Lots for the coming European Championships 2007 will held next Saturday, February 10, when the FIG's Technical Committee will visit Amsterdam for a working session.
