Monday, July 24, the International Gymnastics Federation executed the drawing of lots for the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships 2006, wich will held in Aarhus, Denmark, October 14 - 21 this year.
It was the first official act of a highly strategic competition, held at the new F.Ig: heafquarter in Neuchatel (SUI) since it represents for the gymnasts the first step toward the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
To qualify for the Games, the teams must compete in the next year's qualifying world championships (Stuttgart, Germany), but only the best 24 teams of the 2006 worlds in Aarhus will be able to go to Germany!
All other federations have a limited participation of 3 gymnasts maximum. Therefore, all teams registered for Aarhus are preparing themselves for this event with utmost determination, in anticipation of an Olympic qualification.
On July 13, the registration deadline, the F.I.G. announced a participation of 62 federations, representing 521 gymnasts (287 male, 234 female) from five continents.

Men's Qualification rounds will include 9 subdivisions, with 44 complete teams and individual gymnasts, starting in ( >> Mixed groups 1 - 6).
