Simone Biles USA) won two more gold medals to wrap the most successful Olympics or World Championships by an American woman ever Sunday. Biles also led the U.S. to top the overall medal standings in Nanning, China. Biles, 17, won the vault and floor exercise finals. She finished her second Worlds with four gold medals and one silver medal. Biles is the first U.S. woman to win five medals or four gold medals at a single Worlds. She now has nine career Worlds medals in two appearances, one behind the U.S. record of 10 by Alicia Sacramone, who competed in five World Championships. Biles should be expected to break Sacramone’s record at the 2015 World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.
Simone BILES (USA) claimed a second gold of the 36th Women's World Artistic Gymnastics Championships as she successfully defended her all-around title. The 17-year-old led throughout Friday's final in Nanning to secure gold by 0.466 points from Romania's
Larisa IORDACHE, with Kyla ROSS (USA) completing the top three. Biles' victory means she becomes the first gymnast since Russia's Svetlana Khorkina in 2003 to win back-to-back individual all-around titles.
Kohei UCHIMURA of Japan won a record fifth straight all-around gold medal at the 45th Worlds of artistic gymnastics in Nanning, China. Uchimura, who led every event except the pommel horse, sealed the title with 15.233 points on the horizontal bar to finish with a total of 91.965 points.
Max WHITLOCK of Britain took silver with 90.473 points, and Yusuke TANAKA of Japan claimed bronze with 90.449.
The 25-year-old Uchimura has won every all-around title since the 2009 world championships in London. Oleg Verniaiev of Ukraine was fourth with 90.298 points, followed by David Belyaskiy of Russia with 89.765. Uchimura became the first gymnast, male or female, to win four world all-around titles last year in Antwerp, Belgium, breaking a tie with Svetlana Khorkina of Russia.
On day 3 and 4 day (Sunday / Monday, October 5/6) of the 36th Women's Worlds of Artistic Gymnastics 2014 finished the 12 subdomains of qualifying in the Sports Center of Nanning (CHN).
