Last but not least: → The final report of the 62nd BLUME FESTIVAL Gran Canaria 2024 is especially dedicated to the dedicated Canarian hosts!
In particular to the many children, young people, but increasingly also movement-conscious adults, who created great stage shows with high levels of gymnastic performance, imaginative show creations and even more sparkling passion. The whole island of Gran Canaria was in rhythmic motion, enthusiastic spectators in the island's capital Las Palmas, in the well-known tourist destinations such as Telde, Santa Brigida or Maspalomas, where the opening gala and two other show acts took place in the Yumbo-Comercial Centre, a large audience cheered the performances in the mostly full stands. For many tourists on the ‘island of eternal spring’, a visit to the festival has also become a highly welcome cultural addition to their itinerary - some have been coming for years during the ‘colourful BLUME Festival Season’ ...
‘... enough is enough!’ - said long-time BLUME lecturer Christiane Kleinke-Schaedler, who was bid farewell by the course participants in an amusing way just a few days before her 80th birthday: Countless times and always bubbling over with quirky ideas, the sports and gymnastics teacher from Osnabrück had transformed everyday objects into imaginative movement exercises to actually get everyday life moving with a lot of fun and pleasure.
<< And funnily enough, she was presented with just such objects when she said goodbye to her many years of creative lecturing at the Flower Festival. ‘Thank you Christiane ...!’
<< Two ‘historical heavyweights’ of European gymnastics festivals in an exchange of ideas:
Although not comparable in size and dimension, the 62nd edition of the BLUME-FESTIVAL de Gran Canaria, as the smaller Spanish sister, does not look so small compared to the 43 German gymnastics festivals in German sports history to date (since 1860)! Reason enough to maintain the long-standing contacts and co-operation with each other. The ‘International German Gymnastics Festival’ Leipzig 2025 sent two of its ambassadors to Gran Canaria to engage in a lively exchange of ideas and inform the Blume Festival participants from 15 European nations about the upcoming major event in Leipzig (GER) at the end of May next year.
<< After completing the course - satisfied participants of the ‘Flamenco’ workshop - the Spanish dance, which has rightly been part of the intangible world cultural heritage for over 100 years and which has demonstrably positive effects on mental and emotional health, as you can easily see from the faces of the workshop participants in the photo!
It is just one of the many workshops organised and supervised by Traude KELL (<< in the picture on the right in blue BLUME T-shirt).
Flamenco from first-hand Spanish experience (!) was taught by dancer Natalia Juez Monzòn, assisted by her daughter Sara Rosales (front, 1st row) ...
A warm Sunday evening in the Yumbo business centre in the Canary Islands tourist metropolis of Maspalomas:
Long before the Opening Gala of the 62nd BLUME FESTIVAL 2024, the seats were highly coveted and occupied and island television also broadcast the festive contributions of the guests from 15 countries. They had all prepared diverse and new programmes and show contributions. The content included traditional folklore from the guest berbers, choreographed dances with a variety of gymnastics and acrobatics, as well as daring pyramid constructions and breathtaking trampoline jumps ...
For over a decade, the BLUME-FESTIVAL has also been organising international competitions, which are particularly popular with young athletes from the Canary Islands and international participants.
* On Saturday (November 30), the 12th International BLUME TeamGym Cup competition will be held in the sports hall of the island's capital.
* The 10th International Rhythmic Gymnastics Cup 2024 will take place in the ‘Jesus Telo" Sports Hall:
<< One of the happy winners there was Emilia Sophhia SEISTRUP from the Danisch Rhythmic Gymnastics Club "Hjerting IF".
* ... and for the 6th time, the Aerobic gymnasts will determine their best in the El Tablero sports hall ...:
Shortly before the 62nd edition of the BLUME Festival, the president of the GIMNASIO LAS PALMAS sports club, Cornelio Ortega MARTINEZ, passed away at the age of 76. The commendable sports teacher was an irreplaceable organiser of this unique popular sports event until the very end, having been an active gymnast when it was founded in 1960 and later becoming an almost trusted assistant and man of practice alongside the legendary Canarian gymnastics father Jesus Telo Nuñez, who founded the festival and named it after the Spanish folk hero Joaquín BLUME, who died in an accident ...:
