*fig-press--: Nicolas Buompane officially assumed his role as the new Secretary General of the International Gymnastics Federation on 1 January 2019.
The FIG's Deputy Secretary General since 2007, Mr Buompane, a Swiss citizen, was nominated to this position by the FIG Executive Committee on the proposal of President Morinari Watanabe in late February 2018. Mr Buompane, 47, succeeds André F. Gueisbuhler (SUI) who held this position from 2005 to 2018.
