German victory and Europeans Nomination

The German women's national team celebrated a clear victory in the international meeting versus the Netherlands in Friedberg, Bavaria, winning clearly with 174,15 to 152,05 Punkten.

Best in all-around was Katja ABEL from Berlin with 56,70 points.
After the competition, which was the second qualification for the European Championships at the same time, the German EuCh-team was nominated. The Saxonian federation will be the strongest in the team for the EuCh in France, with the two gymnastsJoeline Möbius and Jenny Brunner...

Olympic Wild Cards to Yemen and Vietnam

The US gymnastics magazine "International Gymnast" reports, that
the final remaining berths for the 2008 Olympic Games have been awarded to a female from Vietnam and a male from Yemen:
Vietnam's Thuong Di Thi Ngan (19) and Yemen's Nashwan Al-Hazari are the reported recipients of the Wild Card berths selected by a tripartite commission.

German Capital BERLIN - applies for Europeans 2011

The German Gymnastics Federation (DTB) made a request for the 2011 European Championships of Artistic Gymnastics, men and women.
Berlin would host such a continental event for the first time, although, in history, 10 out of 11 European titles won by Germans were gained by the legendary  "DYNAMO" gymnasts from Berlin: Maxi Gnauck (5), Prof. Dr. Karin Buettner-Janz (4) and Angelika Hellmann-Keilig (1)

USA and Shawn Johnson won in Italy

The US artistic gymnastics women team won a friendly meet in Italy versus the host, followed by Spain and Poland.
The reigning 2007 all-around champion Shawn JOHNSON (USA) was the best in all-around (61,700) and beat the 2006 world champion, Vanessa FERRARI (60,100). On third came Samantha PESZEK (59,050) from USA.
The USA also won the junior competition (181,050) with a difference of nearly nine points in front of host Italy, a Rumanian team and...

Czech Republic dominates Friendly Meet in Austria

In the Sports Center Waidmannsdorf  in Klagenfurt, Austria, a Friendly meet of artistic gymnastics took place in preparation of the upcoming European Championships in France, next month:
The Czech national squad won by a clear margin with  a score of 163,250 and a difference of nearly 6.5 points in front of Austria, followed by Sweden and Slovenia.
The Slovenian junior team was the best in the junior competition before  Sweden  and the Czech Republic....
