The first day of finals in Cottbus has ended now and a lot of high-quality performances were presented to the audience in the venue “Lausitzhalle”. In the men`s floor final Hungary`s Robert Gal managed to take the lead in front of Roman Zozulia (UKR) who thrilled the audience with his extraordinary routine.

The qualification at the 27th Tournament of Masters in Cottbus has ended now. Most of the participants – altogether 44 - started on pommel horse, the least participants started on women’s vault (21). This qualification on vault was won by Oksana Chussovitina.
Elizabeth Tweddle (GBR) took the lead on uneven bars in the qualification.

The team of German host just arrived in Cottbus from the training camp Kienbaum, near Berlin. After injury of Sven Kwiatkowski last weekend in Paris, the German coach Andreas Hirsch have some problems...
In Cottbus arrived participants from 42 nations. Amomg of them Olympic, world and European champions. The qualification events starts today at 1 p.m. local time in the new venue Lausitz Arena.

The Olympic Movement Tripartite Commission has allocated its invitations for the Olympic Games Athens 2004 (artistic gymnastics) to Dimosthenis TAMPAKOS (GRE), Maria Jose DE LA FUENTE PARADA (BOL), and to Vania VICENTE MONTEIRO (CPV) (rhythmic gymnastics ).
The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) is acknowledging the above.

(nbb) For Romanias top gymnast Oana Petrovschi the Worldcup series Paris-Cottbus-Thessaloniki was over before it began. The 17-year-old from Birlad injured her ankle while training for the World Cup at Paris-Bercy's 'Palais Omnisport' on friday. 'Thanks god that nothing is broken', she told gymworld, though she was really cross about her mishap: 'I failed to notice a training suit which was lying on the floor mat, landed on it and bent my ankle.'
