42nd MEN's European Championships 2020

At the 42nd European Championships in Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (December 9th - 13th) in Mersin (TUR; venue of the 2013 Mediterranean Games), UKRAINE secured the team title for the very first time even without its star Oleg Verniaiev (248.963). Vera Atkinson-Marinova is retiring

<< Vera ATKINSON-MARINOVA, the British head of media and public relations of the British Gymnastics Federation for many years, is retiring after a quarter of a century of committed and successful work. The former Bulgarian rhythmic gymnastics world champion, who won two golds and one bronze between 1967 and 1971 as a member of the Bulgarian group, later made a name for herself as the voice of the gymnastics disciplines on Bulgarian television.

Russian Coach Evgeny Nikolko passed away

Evgeny NIKOLKO, Alexey Nemov’s long-time coach and the national head coach of the Russian men's Olympic teams in Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000, and Athens 2004 passed away last Sunday, November 22nd at the age of 76 from pneumonia complications.
Nikolko stopped working his national coaching in 2010 and returned to his home town Togliatti to workthere at the local gym. He kept coaching actively until he became ill this year.

Johanna is still standing on her head at the age of 95

This Friday, the world's oldest active gymnast, Johanna QUAAS, will celebrate her 95th birthday!
Since she was 56 years old - that was 1981 - she had started active gymnastics again, did it in a competitive and permanent manner suitable for senior citizens, was a regular participant of German gymnastics festivals (Turnfest") and won the title of "German senior gymnastics champion" in her age group 11 times in a row in the new millennium.
