Dutch Open 2004

Last weekend took place the 2004 Dutch Open of women's artistic gymnastics in Nijmegen, Netherlands.
The Dutch Suzanne Harmes from the 'Hazekamp', defended her all-around title on Saturday.
On second place came her teammate Loes Linders (36,475) and the bronze medal went to Berber van den Berg (35,550).
The competition will determine if a second Dutch gymnast meets the Dutch National Olympic Committee's criteria to compete in Athens.

IOC Athletes Commission: Two gymnasts on the list!

fig: -- On August 26, 2004, The International Olympic Committee will release the list of the new elected Members of its Athletes Commission. The election will take place in the Olympic Village in Athens from August 11 to 25. Among the candidates recognized and approved by the IOC Executive Commission, Gymnastics is represented by Szilveszter Csollany (HUN) and Marius Urzica (ROM). Russia nominated Russian Olympic Team

Press conference in Moscow...
The President of the Russian Gymnastics Federation and also chief coach Leonid Arkaev announced the Russian final training squads for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens at a press conference in Moscow, yesterday.
So eight female and nine male gymnasts will start the immediately preparation for the Olympics, four days after the end of the national championships yesterday.....

Russian National Cup and Event Finals 2004

Svetlana Khorkina and Alexei Bondarenko won the all-around at the Russian Cup Finals, held Sunday in the Russian capital Moscow.
Bondarenko (56,500) was also the Russian National all-around champion this past spring. On second place came Nikolai Krukow, in front of Anton Golodsutskov
Khorkina showed a marked improvement Sunday (38.625), after making some mistakes the day before in the qualifiying round.
Monday and Tuesday take place the Russian Championships with the event finals...
