With great sadness, the German gymnastics family informs, that Mr. Helmut BANTZ, the European Champion on parallel bars at the first continental championships (Frankfurt 1955) and the Olympic champion on vault in Melbourne (1956) passed away, in his hometown near Cologne, yesterday.
Helmut Bantz was a long time coach and teacher at the Sports College of Cologne and generations of students got their knowledges from him...
It's a big loss for the German gymnastics family...

Olympic all-around champion Paul Hamm had to appear in a hearing of the International Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in Lausanne where he met again his Olympic competitor Yang, Tae Young. Four weeks after the Olympic Games in Athens ended the highest court for sports issues now takes care of the case of the US- gymnast. The winner of the 19th International GWG Cup 2004 of European talents of artistic gymnastics (age group 10 - 14) was the Ukrainian Victor Stepanenko with a score of 52,30, followed by Rokas Guscinas (LTU; 51,225) and Daniel Keatings (GBR; 50,850).
Winner of the age group 15 - 18 years was Dennis Mannhart from Switzerland (Turnverband Zurich) with a score of 52,750 points.
