2015 was a very successful year for the national Azerbaijanian Gymnastics, as the country gained 157 medals during last year.
Rhythmic gymnasts could distinguish among the athletes, winning 81 medals overall.

Mersin and Szombathely have been added to the 2016 International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) World Challenge Cups calendar for artistic gymnastics. Russia's former top-star of artistic gymnastics Anna PAVLOVA announced her official retirement from racing. The 28-year old, who dressed the body of Azerbaijan the last three years, had won two bronze medals (with the team and on vault) at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, when she represented Russia. Also she participated in the 2008 Olympics, where Russia ranked on fourth team pleace. Her coach in her young years was her mother Natalia Pavlova.
