The 34th WOMEN's Artistic Gymnastics European Championships 2013, - the 5th since 2005 as so-called "Individual ECh", began this morning in the Great Hall of the Olympic Sports Complex in Moscow with the qualifying rounds.
After completion of the preliminary fights, there was the expected dominance of Romanian gymnasts larisa Iordache and Diana Bulimar and the Russian hosts, with Anastasia Grishina, Aliya Mustafina and Ksenia Afanasieva.
Best on vault was the Swiss Giulia Steingruber and a strong impression...

The first day of the 35th Men's Artistic Gymnastics European Championships finished after three subdivisions with 159 athletes, representing 37 different nations. At the end Max Whitlock from Great Britain was the best of all-around with a score of 89,365 points. After the third subdivision Oleg Verniayev (UKR) came on second (88,265) and he pushed Russia's David Belyavskiy (88,623) on third place, followed by Oleg Stepko (UKR) on fourth (88,224).

For already the fifth time, the historic 35th Gymnastics European Championships for men and the 34th for Women 2013 in Moscow on 17 - 21 April at the Olympic complex in the Russian capital as so-called "Individual Championships", like this, most recently in Berlin 2011, with all-around and apparatus finals.

To about 160 male gymnasts from 37 European nations are on the entry list, of which only 43% (65 athletes) want to participate in the all-around!...

In the "Richard Hartmann-Halle" of Chemnitz took place a friendly triple meet of women artistic gymnastics between Olympic champions USA, Top Nation Romania and hosts Germany, supplemented by a mixed team.
This "international match of the year" as expected, the U.S. girls won in convincing fashion, and 234.050 points in front of host Germany (210.600) as well as a very young Romanian junior team (205.15) .....
