31. TURNIER DER MEISTER 2007 >> MEN s Qualification rounds

Impressive field of top participants!

Altogether 100 athletes representing 39 nations took part in Friday's qualification rounds of the World Cup in the Lausitz Arena of Cottbus! It was a qualification marathone from 1 to 8 p.m. - this modus is not an act of advertisement for modern gymnastics!

The biggest rush was seen seen on pommel horse: 54 gymnasts were on the start lists there, 53 on parallel bars - and only eight spots for the final were available...!

Erika ZUCHOLD - from international star to artist

Today, on March 19, one of the greatest and most famous German gymnasts worldwide celebrates her 60th birthday.
Erika ZUCHOLD from Leipzig was one of the best known personalities in international gymnastics in the sixties and seventies of the 20th century, along with Karin Büttner-Janz and before Maxi Gnauck .

Italian Festival at the World Cup in Paris-Bercy

At the first world cup of the season in Paris-Bercy, France, Italian women's gymnastics got a total triumph: All-around world champion Vanessa FERRARI won on three apparatuses and her teammate Carlotta GIOVANNI on vault.
After than Igor CASSINA was the best on men's high bar!

Japanese team defends the title at the Intl. Junior Team Cup

 

A top level competition!As expected, the titleholder of last year's INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR TEAM CUP, the boys from JAPAN, defended the trophy and won the event also this year with a score of 249.900 points.

The team FRANCE I followed in second place with 247.800 in front of Switzerland  (245.700). The competition included the incredible number of 25 teams from 17 different countries! Also the boys from Spain (4th place) and Nottinghamshire/ Great Britain (6th place) left strong impressions.

Friendly Meet: Great Britain versus USA
