After having been rejected by the UEG as host for this year’s European Championships, Portuguese city of Portimao receives this weekend in the brand new EXPOARADE Pavillion the world elite in rhythmic gymnastics.
From 8th to 10th September, 115 gymnasts from 26 countries, will compete in this FIG World Cup Series Event (Category A).
The prelas tournament of the Grand Prix series 2006 in Deventer (Netherlands) won the Olympic champion Alina Kabajewa (Russland) with rope (17,80) and clubs (17,875) and became the most succesful gymnast of the tournament. From 22nd to 24th August, the 2006 All Japanese RG Club Championships were held in Tokyo.
Japanese Club Team champion 2006 is AEON (140,275), followed by the squad of NPO Gifu RG Club (132,80) and on third came Hikousen RG Club (131.375).
The all-around winner, Ai Yokochi (52.075) (photo, left) came also from AEON team; she made her personally record: the fourth title from 2003 on!
