Australia's finest female gymnast, 2010 world floor champion Lauren MITCHELL, has shelved retirement plans to chase a third Olympic Games appearance next year in Rio. Mitchell (23) had planned to finish after 2014, only for her planned world championship finale to be scuttled by twin ankle injuries just two days before competition.
That not being the ideal note to end on, the West Australian resumed full training a month ago in preparation for next week's 2015 Australian Gymnastics Championships at Hisense Arena....
After nearly 20 hours of her journey yesterday from Halle, flying from the German capital Berlin with a stopover in Chicago, the world's oldest active artistic gymnast, Johanna QUAAS, now arrived in Oklahoma City safely and was warmly welcomed at the local airport by representatives of the "International Gymnastics Hall of Fame" (IGHOF).
