World Cup Opening in Qatar
This year's first artistic gymnastics WORLD CUP (Category 'A') will be held at the "Aspire Dome"  of Doha (Qatar) from March 4 - 6, 2008, being organized by "Qatar Gymnastic Federation" under the aegis of the FIG and Qatar Olympic Committee.
The hosts count on top favorites from more than 40 countries, who will use this opportunity as a competition start into the Olympic season...

Gymnastics elite of the future - live!
On March 1st the 13th International Junior-Team-Cup 2008 will take place in Berlin. Previously one month before the Berlin's hosts register a new participating record:  28 teams, representing 19 nations and 4 continents!
This team competition is a high-class event for junior gymnasts. Entries from top gymnastics nations like last year's winner Japan, USA, Australia, Belarus and further 24 (!) countries have been confirmed!
Australians and Canadians arrived as first...

...and again the Japanese team is unbeatable!
For the fourth time in a row the team of JAPAN won the 14th International Junior Team Cup 2009 team cup in Berlin with 247.800 in front of the teams from Switzerland (239.800) and Lithuania (237.250). althought they started with three athletes only, after that one of the boys injured in training.
The best German team were the hosts of the club SC Berlin on the 7th place behind...

Diego LIZARDI (32), a gymnast who represented Puerto Rico in the 1996 and 2000 Olympics, died in a car accident.  He was driving on a winding stretch of highway last week when his car collided with a cement truck, killing him instantly, police said.

The governor and athletes from across the island are expected to attend a ceremony last Saturday in San Juan honoring Lizardi.

When Walter Steffens, Olympic Champion of 1936 and last gymnast of the golden squad of 1936 died in summer 2006 in his hometown Barnstorf, Klaus KOESTE from Leipzig stated laconically: "...my God, now I am the Germany's oldest Olympic gymnastics champion...!" 
Today the Olympic Champion on vault (Munich 1972) and double European Champion on high bar (1971/72) celebrates his 65th birthday in his native town Kossen, near Leipzig, together with his family and a lot of gymnastics...
