The "Dutch Royal Gymnastics Union" (KNGU) has decided to give gymnast the former World Champion on still rings, Yuri van Gelder, another chance to return to top-level gymnastics. The decision is the result of negotiations between Yuri van Gelder and KNGU representatives. The negotiations were held after mediation by sports umbrella organisation NOC*NSF. Yuri van Gelder - nicknamed 'The Lord of the Rings' - returned to gymnastics this summer after being suspended for a year for cocaine abuse.

The team member of the US OLympic squad Sasha ARTEMEV plans a comeback at the 2011 Winter Cup in February, so the US magazine "International Gymnast" reports.

The Jordanian gymnast Ali Al Asi has been just crowned Best Arab Athlete 2010 by HE Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Governor of Dubai and Deputy of the United Arab Emirates, at its recent meeting in Dubai.

The former two-times world champion on high bar Jesús Carballo (jr) Martínez (34) was elected as the new president of the Royal Spanish Federation of Gymnastics.
The former  world class gymnast won the election with 49 votes, in front of two rival applicants Angelo Madroñal (24 votes) and Cheo Llera (03 votes).
Llera is the former coach of Spanish National team member Laura Campos. So Jesus Carballo (jr) is the youngest president ever of the Spanish Federation.

The Russian all-around world champion Aliya MUSTAFINA (Russia)won the all-around and two events at the 17th Voronin Cup, wich held  in Moscow last week.
On second place came her teammate Tatiana Nabiyeva, followed by the Israelian Valeria Maksyuta. Russia's Dmitry BARKALOV won the elite's men's all-around title in front of teammate Andrei Likhovitsky and Japan's Shogo Nonomura.
The competition featured gymnasts from 23 nations from Europe, Asia, and North and South America.
