As the basis for invitations to the World Cup Final on 13-14 December in Madrid, the international gymnastics federation, the F.I.G., published its world cup individual apparatus rankings at the end of November following the last World Cup of the series. USA gymnastics --: 1984 Olympic gold medalist Peter Vidmar was elected chairman of the USA Gymnastics board of directors Monday, and will be joined in the group by 1984 all-around champion Mary Lou Retton.

On Monday, December 8th, 2008, a large crowd came to La Tour-de-Peilz (SUI) to honour Pierre Chabloz - founder of the European Gymnastics Union and Honorary Member of the FIG - a last time.
