	by Wolfram Köhler, Mayor of the City of Sports RIESA   “Back to the Roots” is a standard quotation but with regards to Sports Acrobatics in Riesa it really holds true. I am very happy that after six years the Sports Acrobatics family is returning to Riesa.

Things started with the Junior and Senior Championships in 1996. Since then, an entire sports complex has been developed around the World Championships competition hall with the “erdgas arena” at its centre. The size of the halls and the number of events organised there have grown as has the experience and know-how of our employees. Despite the numerous World and European Championships and countless national and international events which have already taken place in Riesa, we always like to recall the beginnings of our sports centre.

At that time, I had to explain to the Sports Acrobatics Federation the technical and organisational advantages of organising Junior World Championships in Riesa by showing them the shells of our complex. I do not know what convinced them to chose our city but I am glad that they did, because the World Championships in Sports Acrobatics were the starting point for all subsequent events.
I extend my warmest thanks to all the volunteers and sponsors for their help in organising these first class events, particularly the World Championships in Sports Acrobatics.
I look forward to seeing many familiar faces again and to meeting people who became dear friends at the World Championships in Sports Acrobatics.
I wish all acrobats much success and I believe Riesa will be the right place for this event and I hope many spectators will come to the “erdgas arena” to enjoy this unique sports event.
